Federal authorities have indicted Carter Fawcett and 10 individuals from across the U.S. in a disturbing case. It involves the creation and distribution of graphic videos showing the torture and killing of baby monkeys.

The Justice Department unsealed the indictment on Friday, revealing that the suspects, including 27-year-old Fawcett, paid for content produced overseas. The content was specifically created by a minor in Indonesia.

Investigators said the group directed the minor to carry out horrific acts, including mutilation and sexual violence against monkeys. One video, described in the indictment, showed a baby monkey violently killed and returned to its mother.

Authorities labeled the material “animal crush videos,” which are banned under federal law due to their extreme nature. Fawcett reportedly made multiple payments to Nicholas Dryden of Cincinnati, Ohio, via Telegram.

Dryden, who was previously named in June 2024 along with a New Jersey man, faces additional charges related to child sexual abuse and the distribution of illegal content.

The defendants, hailing from states including Arizona, Pennsylvania, and New York, are charged with conspiracy and face up to five years in prison. CBS News reports that Dryden and his alleged co-conspirator face up to 27 years due to the nature of the crimes.

According to the DOJ, the indictment of Carter Fawcett and the 10 others is part of a broader investigation into a growing online network facilitating such cruelty, drawing concern from animal rights groups and law enforcement alike.
