Per The Cleveland 19, a 15-teen-year old boy made his first court appearance on February 21, at the Hamilton County Juvenile Court. At the hearing, he was accused of firing 12 rounds at 30-year-old Levonte Hyde.
According to the prosecutors, the incident was pre-planned as the teenager looked for the firearm and waited for his victim to arrive. Consequently, the court ordered that he be detained until his next hearing on March 3.
The shooting occurred less than an hour after Hyde and the teenager’s mom had an altercation. Police arrived at the scene on Pasadena Avenue around 12:30 am, following reports of gunshots.
Upon their arrival, they met the victim lying around helplessly with numerous gunshot injuries before he was taken to a nearby hospital. It was at the University of Cincinnati Hospital that he was pronounced dead.
A few hours later, the police returned to arrest the 15-year-old who was immediately charged with killing Hyde. Before the murder, the teenager had accused the deceased of domestic violence.
An interview with the teen’s mom confirmed this fact. She confessed that Levonte Hyde with whom she shares two kids, had punched her on the face severally on the day of his murder. All these happened during their trip to a store.
Hamilton County Municipal Court records showed that Levonte Hyde was declared wanted for misdemeanor domestic violence charges. Meanwhile, the police asked the judge to grant the domestic violence victim a protection order. However, moments after Hyde was charged, the teenager ended his life.
