In a tragic incident that occurred in broad daylight, a 15-year-old rival allegedly carried out a stabbing, resulting in the unfortunate death of a 17-year-old girl from the Bronx. The victim, Emery Mizell, was stabbed in the chest and sadly, declared deceased. The 15-year-old suspect was apprehended and charged with murder, manslaughter, and weapon possession. Due to her age, the suspect’s name has not been disclosed, according to the New York Post

Emery’s loved ones are devastated by her tragic and senseless killing. They gathered outside her apartment building on Evergreen Avenue for a heartfelt memorial to honor her memory.

The victim’s 13-year-old sister Gianna told The Post,

“She was there for me when no one was there all the time. She gave me advice all the time when I needed it.”

The victim’s family speaks

The authorities informed Emery’s family that the 15-year-old suspect attended the same high school as her, but they were unsure about their relationship. Police stated that Emery and her alleged killer had an ongoing conflict. Before the attack, it is alleged that the victim experienced online harassment. Emery’s second cousin, Latanya Mizell, talked about her unawareness of the social media bullying but pointed out that it would contribute to the tragedy, if true.

Latanya said,

“These are kids, both of them. They both lost their lives. That right there is hurtful enough as a whole because we got to be better with our kids.”

Emery, who would have celebrated her 18th birthday in October, was only a month away from graduating and eagerly waiting for her senior prom, per her family.
