About 20 sexual predators have been convicted of their crimes. Court documents say these men raped girls from ages 12-16 over a ten-year span. They have now been given a heavy jail term totaling 219 years.
According to The Sun, between 2001 to 2010, a group of twenty men forcefully had their way with two teenage girls. But it was not until 2016, that the victims dared to make a case. The West Yorkshire Police were notified of the abuse and immediately began their investigation. During this period they realized that the crime was extremely complex.
According to the first report, two girls aged 16 and 13 who lived in Calderdale were sexually exploited. It happened in 2006 and 2009. A separate investigation showed that a 13-year-old was repeatedly abused in 2002 and 2006. Two years after beginning the investigation, the authorities noted another victim. She was only 12, but she was abused between 2001 and 2002.
These teenagers raped at different times were victims of a gang of men who preyed on teenagers. All cases were tried at the Bradford Crown Court, at different times. In 2021, the court convicted five men, three of which have received eleven years behind bars. The others will serve for two years and forty-two months respectively.
The following year, eleven cases were tried—their sentencing ranged from sixteen to seven years. In 2023, only one man was tried, and recently, he received a twelve-year sentence. Finally, three of the now-convicted felons with a twelve to nine-year sentence were tried in January.
