Bogalusa’s youngest Mayor, Tyrin Truong has allegedly broken the city’s trust. The 25-year-old has been entangled in a drug trafficking investigation and police say he’s a key player.

Authorities in Louisiana decided to clean up the city, thus they carried out a joint investigation into a drug trafficking organization. Per Fox News, the 22nd Judicial District Court District Attorney’s Office, and the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality were committed to the cause. Reportedly, the drug trafficking organization began its stint in Bogalusa around April 2024.

As the investigation progressed, authorities discovered that the group was distributing controlled substances. This included opioids, THC products, high-grade marijuana, and MDMA. The perpetrators used social media as an outlet. This also helped in the distribution and payment of the drugs.

The drug trafficking organization invested the proceeds from the sales of these substances into purchasing firearms, which in turn, fostered more violent crimes in the city. Unfortunately, Tyrin Truong, Mayor of Bogalusa whom the people elected in 2022, is allegedly a key player.

The police obtained search warrants for the disgraced Mayor alongside six others in the group. The list included men aged between 51 to 22— with only one man aged 51. Together, these seven were accused of joining transactions that involved the drug trafficking business.

Truong, like the others, is currently in the Washington Parish Jail, with a bond set at $150,000. Apart from engaging with proceeds from the illicit business, he is charged with solicitation of prostitutes. A final charge is the unauthorized use of a movable. This means that he must have used or confiscated another’s personal property.
