A tourist was tragically murdered in Mauritius by her Tinder date, who cut out her tongue to stop her from calling for aid. The 29-year-old university teacher was seen entering a blue car before being stabbed multiple times. A post-mortem examination revealed severe injuries, including her tongue and throat being cut, along with numerous stab wounds to her chest.

Zaliya Shamigulova was last seen on Aug. 17 near her rental near Flic-en-Flac beach. She was reported missing by a traveling companion. Sadly, she was later discovered naked in a shallow grave. A 29-year-old IT engineer from Mauritius confessed to her murder, reports a Russian media outlet.

Zaliya met the suspect on Tinder. The 29-year-old man reportedly confessed to killing her and illustrated the stabbing. Detectives are searching for her missing body parts and clothing. The man eventually led officials to where he buried the tourist.

“He said he was deeply in love with 29-year-old Zaliya Shamigulova and [claimed he] was planning to marry her,”

officials said.

During his interview with officials, the suspect revealed that he found out about Shamigulova’s infidelity.

“On Saturday, the man went to take the Russian woman sightseeing on the island, but in a fit of jealous rage, he pulled out a knife and brutally killed his lover before stripping her and burying her body,”

officials noted.

A funeral service was conducted for Zaliya before her body was sent back to Russia.
