83-Year-Old Man Convicted Of Dismembering Bodies of Wife and Daughter Because He Lost His Job and Didn’t Want Them To Be Homeless

Reginald MacLaren (Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office))

An 83-year-old Colorado man who should be living out the rest of his years at Shady Pines retirement home, will rest in peace in prison.

Reginald MacLaren was found guilty of murdering his 70-year-old wife Bethany MacLaren and daughter Ruth Jennifer MacLaren, 35, with an ax, according to Law and Crime.

The elderly man reportedly chopped up the bodies of his loved ones and stuffed their bloody bodies in a Home Depot trashcan.

Also, the elderly man called authorities to report that he believed his wife and daughter was murdered but didn’t let on that he was in fact the murderer.

But it didn’t take the Englewood Police Department long to figure out that Reginald was the culprit who decapitated the bodies.

“Mr. Maclaren betrayed his family in a gruesome and senseless ambush that he planned for weeks,” Chief Deputy DA Jake Adkins said in a statement. “He violently murdered his wife and daughter and planned to dispose of their bodies like trash.”

Reginald told the authorities that he had just lost his job and he didn’t want his wife and daughter to be homeless.

“He bought an ax, two ‘Totter’ style trash cans and a hand saw from Home Depot. He fully intended to use these items in the commission of the murders,” an affidavit states.

He will be sentenced July 11.

Now pops will get three hots and a cot and a job in the prison library.
