An 84-year-old doctor is under fire for failing to adhere to proper medical procedures when performing a colonoscopy that left his patient in excruciating pain.

After an extensive investigation, on Aug. 7, the Florida Department of Health’s Board of Medicine determined that Dr. Ishwari Prasad would be put on probation and fined $7,500, along with reimbursing the agency $6,300 for the cost of the investigation, Miami Herald reports.

Dr. Prasad is hearing impaired and on June 5, 2023, he conducted two subpar colonoscopy procedures at Ambulatory Surgery Center Tampa.

According to the complaint, a patient identified as R.F. was undergoing a colonoscopy in which Dr. Prasad allegedly “inserted the scope inside of him before he was fully sedated. Prasad did not stop the procedure when “it became apparent that Patient R.F. was not fully sedated.”

The patient reportedly, “began yelling.”

During the second procedure, a hospital administrator reportedly told Persad to stop conducting the colonoscopy. Still, he instead leaned over the patient and shouted “I know” and continued to inject the probe into his rectum.

According to the complaint, the hearing-impaired doctor didn’t wear his hearing aids. He was also cited for ordering a surgical tech to perform duties he was not skilled to do.

See, this is why men don’t want to do colonoscopies! That poor man is scarred for life!
