Sadly, an 88-year-old man stabbed his 87-year-old wife to death in front of her shocked relatives at their Staten Island home on Thursday night. The violence started amid a verbal disagreement, when he picked up a knife and stabbed her in the chest, per the New York Post.

The tragic event happened close to 11:30 p.m. on Caramel Court in Dongan Hills, with family members present in the apartment. Relatives reported that a dispute between the couple escalated, leading to the woman being transported to the hospital, where she sadly died.

Officials took her husband into custody at the location, and he is facing several charges that are pending, according to sources.
