Fernando Barreto-Hernandez was first arrested on January 24 for allegedly assaulting a minor in Los Angeles while delivering packages in December 2024, according to the Glendale Police Department (GPD). However, as he appeared in court on February 21, he was arrested again for a separate case in Glendale, where a woman claimed an Amazon driver sexually assaulted her on January 21.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has since charged Barreto-Hernandez with a combination of felony and misdemeanor offenses. The Los Angeles Times reports that he faces charges of committing lewd acts with a child under 14 and inappropriate touching without consent.
Per CBS News Los Angeles, he has pleaded not guilty despite the charges and is currently out on bond. Authorities are investigating whether there are additional victims and have encouraged anyone with relevant information to contact the Glendale Police Department’s Assaults Unit.
Fernando Barreto-Hernandez has worked for Amazon, Amazon Flex, and FedEx. However, Amazon spokesperson Alisa Carroll clarified that drivers are not direct employees of Amazon but work for independent third-party delivery services.
She confirmed that the company is aware of the allegations and will cooperate with authorities during the investigation. Attempts to reach Barreto-Hernandez’s legal representation for comment have been unsuccessful.
