The French authorities are investigating an American tourist who killed her baby, hours after its birth. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the infant still had its umbilical cord attached to it.
So far, the authorities have determined the suspect to be an 18-year-old American tourist who threw her baby out of the second floor of her hotel in Paris. She was a resident at the Ibis Styles Hotel on Rue des Réglises, in the 20th arrondissement of the city.
Witnesses who spotted the unsavory scene quickly called for help around 6 a.m. It’s not certain when she threw the child, however, its body was discovered in the early hours of the morning and the entire area was alerted by screams.
Expectedly, emergency services arrived at the scene to observe the child’s condition. They immediately lifted the infant to Robert-Debre Hospital. Sadly, per Le Parisien, a French outlet, the fall was too fatal for the American tourist’s newborn baby who succumbed to its wounds.
The same outlet confirmed that there is an open investigation looking into the homicide of a minor under 15. According to the City’s public prosecutor’s office, the American tourist had been part of a group of young adults touring Europe.
The office claimed that the tourist had been operated on in a French hospital and was later arrested on-site. For now, the French authorities are still trying to decipher the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Meanwhile, everything seems to have returned to normal as there is no police presence surrounding the hospital following the tourist’s arrest.
