Anthony Trice has been found guilty of murdering his own son with his bare hands. The 32-year-old was sentenced to spend twenty years behind bars for manslaughter.
Back in 2019, Courier Journal first reported that Anthony Trice was home alone with his infant son. But rather than take care of the child, he acted out which led to the baby’s death. The convict had been engrossed in a video game which turned sour when he began to lose.
In a feat of rage, Anthony Trice threw the controller at the child and then proceeded to hit him. Per People, the enraged dad then carried the baby to keep him quiet. However, during a trip to the kitchen to make the child’s food, he dropped the infant. Next, the killer-dad sat the child up and then left to use the bathroom.
Following the neglect, Trice returned to find his son in “distress.” It was at this point that the enraged dad dialed emergency services. Although the baby made it to the hospital, his life was cut short due to trauma suffered. The next day, Trice was led off in handcuffs and charged with first-degree criminal abuse of a child.
After his son’s death, the charge was upgraded to murder. According to WDRB, Anthony Trice entered an Alford plea. This meant that he acknowledged that there was substantial evidence for conviction but he refused to plead guilty. On December 19, the Jefferson Circuit Court sentenced Trice to twenty years in prison.
