Baby boy Ariel Gonzalez did not even celebrate his first birthday. At only four months old, the little boy was found dead. Shockingly, an autopsy reports that he had suffered cocaine intoxication.
On August 10, a 34-year-old woman called the police seeking emergency services. This call was from an apartment on Eagle Avenue around 9 pm to 10 pm. Upon arrival, the authorities witnessed an unconscious and unresponsive infant.
First responders immediately transported the child, Gonzalez to a nearby hospital. However, before reaching the NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, the child passed away. The doctors did not notice bodily injuries which implied that he did not suffer physical trauma. Investigation into the case continued and more recently, authorities discovered what led to his early demise.
According to the city’s medical examiner, Ariel Gonzalez is said to have died from severe cocaine intoxication. It is unclear how a 4-month-old who is unable to move by himself got intoxicated with hard drugs. While no one has been named as the perpetrator, the boy’s death has been ruled as homicide.
New York Post confirmed that the authorities are still working to determine exactly what happened and who is involved. So far, no arrest has been made. But authorities say that they got the emergency call from a woman now identified as the boy’s mother.
Just last month, a similar case made the headlines. This time, it was a 1-month-old child who was found dead inside a hot car in Peoria, Illinois. The authorities maintained that the child, Grayson Luncsford, suffered cocaine poisoning. On top of that, his death was also caused by malnutrition, neglect, heat, and dehydration.
