In Texas, an assistant principal was critically injured and had to be airlifted to a hospital after an incident with a student.
Corsicana Independent School District is investigating a classroom disruption that left assistant principal Candra Rogers seriously hurt, WLBT reports.
The school has not revealed details about what happened last Thursday afternoon in a classroom at Collins Intermediate School but said no other students were involved or injured.
Rogers’ condition is said to be “improving.”
“Our prayers are with Mrs. Rogers and her family, but also the family of the student, those in the classroom at the time, and the entire Collins campus, our school district, and our community,” Superintendent Stephanie Howell said.
“This has been an extremely upsetting and difficult situation as you might imagine, but we take the safety not only of our students, but also of our staff very seriously. Both remain a priority for Corsicana ISD.”
Rogers joined the school last year as assistant principal.
