Atlanta Police Investigating Shooting that Left 2-Year-Old Dead

A family is mourning after a 2-year-old was reportedly shot in the head in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 13.

The incident occurred on Bell Street in southeast Atlanta, according to WSBTV.

Police have not identified the child nor a suspect and have not commented on what led up to the shooting.

The sad story is still developing.

Homicides in Atlanta have dropped for the second year in a row, according to the AJC, but the levels are still higher than they were before the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic.

“Crime is down in Atlanta, particularly, homicides are down once again this year,” Mayor Andre Dickens proclaimed earlier this year.

“The number one reduced area of crime in our city last year was vehicle theft, 29% down over the previous year. If you look at robberies, robberies were down 15%. Persons shot in our city is down 7%,” Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said.

Ironically, the area where crime has reportedly dropped the most is Southeast Atlanta where this infant was killed.

This is the second shooting of a 2-year-old in the Atlanta area in a month. A 2-year-old child was hospitalized after being accidentally shot by their twin sibling on Wednesday, March 12, according to People. For more information on safe firearm storage and the most effective ways to protect children from unsecured firearms, visit BeSMARTforkids.org.

Foster Mother Trades Adopted Daughter for Monkey

A Missouri woman has been charged with child abuse and endangerment, and law officials are investigating if she traded her adopted daughter for a monkey.

The teen girl at the center of the case told school authorities that she was being abused but was not believed. It was not until she was repeatedly absent from school that an investigation was launched. Authorities learned of a rumor that she had been traded to a family in Texas in return for a monkey.

According to The Associated Press, the 70-year-old woman has been jailed on a $250,000 bond, and her identity has not been released to protect the identity of the child. The abuse reportedly occurred in Winfield, Missouri, just 45 miles away from St. Louis.

The prosecutor in the case says that the woman had been a foster or adoptive mother to more than 200 children over the past ten years and that other children have come forward to report abuse.

Prosecutor Mike Wood said, “On its face, it just seems like there was a systemic failure somewhere, and we’re looking into it to see if that is the case, how it can be addressed, and to the extent that there’s any criminal behavior associated with it, we will look into that as well.”

  • Trump Excludes Some Electronics From Reciprocal Tariffs

Trump Excludes Some Electronics From Reciprocal Tariffs

The Trump Administration said late on Friday that some electronics like smartphones and laptops will be excluded from reciprocal tariffs. The move could help keep the prices down for popular consumer electronics–most of which aren’t made in the U.S.

According to the Associated Press, the move could lead to an increase in tech stock prices next week.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said items like smartphones, laptops, hard drives, flat-panel monitors and some chips would qualify to be excluded. That means they won’t be subject to the current 145% tariffs levied on China or the 10% baseline tariffs elsewhere.

The Trump Administration has asserted that the tariffs will spur companies to create their products in the United States, but even they recognize that tech companies like #Apple may not ever return to domestic manufacturing.

The AP notes that “It would take several years and cost billions of dollars to build new plants in the U.S., and then confront Apple with economic forces that could triple the price of an iPhone.”

The tariff war has battered tech stocks, with their combined market value plunging by $2.1 trillion, or 14%, from April 2, when Trump unveiled sweeping tariffs on numerous countries.

Wedbush analyst Dan Ives in a research note said that the change will lift “a huge black cloud overhang for now over the tech sector and the pressure facing U.S. Big Tech.”

Khloe Kardashian Calls Ex’s Sex Doll ‘Weird and Gross’

During the Season 6 finale of The Kardashians, Khloe Kardashian addressed the news that her ex-husband Lamar Odom had a s*x doll created in her likeness.

According to USA Today, Odom disclosed that he had the doll made to look like his ex-wife on the “We’re Out of Time” podcast in November. The former NBA star admitted that even he thought that the idea was “sick.”

Khloe said that her ex sounded “so demonic and unwell” after he said that the doll was “perfect because he can do whatever he wants with her sexually.”

The 40-year-old entrepreneur and reality tv star said that the decision to get the doll created in her image just “validates just how different we are and how much we’ve grown apart,” adding, “It’s creepy and it’s weird, but I’m not hurt by it. That’s more his journey. It’s just more weird and gross.”

Earlier this season, the couple spoke on camera about their failed marriage. “I will be blessed if I can ever find someone even close to the way you held me down,” Odom told Khloe. “How being around you made me want to be my best self. I just wish I would’ve shown that. Because you’re worth it.”

However, Khloe spoke about how his addiction battles affected her and their marriage. “I tried countless times to save Lamar from that,” she added. “I almost lost myself, and I probably did at some points, trying to save him.”

  • Research Shows THC Might Be Damaging Your Heart?

Research Shows THC Might Be Damaging Your Heart?

Do you like to “wake and bake?” it might be time to slow down on your favorite morning ritual.

According to WSBTV, a new study published last year by the American Heart Association says that “using marijuana resulted in a 36% higher combined odds of coronary heart disease, heart attack or stroke.”

One #Atlanta woman, Gladys Johnson, is mourning the death of her 25-year-old son Darrell whose death she believes was caused by his use Delta-8 gummies.

“That was my baby. That was my friend,” Gladys Johnson told WSB.

According to the reporting, on March 10, 2024, Darnell and his girlfriend bought several packages of 500-milligram THC gummies. He collapsed not long after eating them.

“I’m forever going through the moment losing my baby brother,” said Darrell’s older brother, Travell Johnson.

Darrell’s cause of death was listed as atheroschlerotic cardiovascular disease caused by plaque buildup in the arteries.

“We really in the past decade have had some good studies that linked the use of marijuana, THC to more heart-related events including heart attacks, strokes, heart failure, irregular heartbeat,” said Cardiologists like Dr. Pradyumna “Prad” Tummala.

“The American Heart Association has data showing since legalization we have had more incidents of heart disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation and strokes,” said Dr. Tummala.

The cardiologist discourages patients who have a history of heart disease from using marijuana and other THC products.

Meanwhile, Darrell’s family is still mourning.

Gladys Johnson said, “Somebody else going to die. I’m gonna try to save somebody else.”

Reports are speculating that the shooting was possibly a murder-suicide, but authorities have not confirmed that.

  • Jeezy’s Former Manager Files Countersuit Alleging Non-Payment

Jeezy’s Former Manager Files Countersuit Alleging Non-Payment

The Snowman is headed to court. In February, Jeezy sued his former manager Solomon Fornie accusing him and business associate Eddie Bridgeman of financial mismanagement and obstructing access to critical financial records, according to AllHipHop.com.

However, this week, Fornie filed a countersuit against the legendary rapper where he alleges that he bailed Jeezy out of a desperate financial situation, according to AllHipHop.com which reviewed court documents obtained by The Jasmine Brand.

“I put my finances, my credit, and my reputation on the line to rebuild Jenkins’ career from the ground up,” Fornie stated in the filing. “He went from foreclosure to Forbes, and now he wants to pretend I was never there.”

The report states that Fornie alleges he paid off Jeezy’s homes, covered payroll for his businesses, and even borrowed $400,000 to keep operations running—money he says has never been repaid. He also alleged that he worked without a salary for years.

Meanwhile, Jeezy is alleging that Fornie and Bridgeman made unauthorized deals and used his money for personal gain.

Jeezy and Fornie worked closely together for years. The two formed a company together in 2015 called Agency 99. They later added Bridgeman who was supposed to handle financial matters. However, in his lawsuit, Jeezy alleges that the financial planner is not a certified accountant.

According to AllHipHop, Fornie claims that he was instrumental in negotiating major deals for the rapper, including for his New York Times bestselling book, Adversity for Sale, as well as partnerships with Avion Tequila and Naud Cognac, a FOX Soul talk show, and a $15 million publishing agreement with HarbourView.

Jeezy is seeking damages and full access to the financial records tied to Agency 99.
