Authorities in Manchester, N.H., are leading an investigation into the tragic discovery of a deceased newborn baby girl found in a local pond.

According to People, the baby was found at Pine Island Park on Thursday, March 27, around 4 p.m. The infant remains unidentified, and officials have classified the case as a suspicious death.

During a recent press conference, Manchester Police Chief Peter Marr stated that investigators have received approximately 50 tips, which have helped narrow down the timeline of events.

A press release from the Manchester Police Department suggests the baby was “placed in the water sometime between Tuesday, March 25, and Thursday, March 27.” An autopsy was conducted on Friday, but authorities are awaiting further test results before determining the cause of death. At this time, no additional details have been released.

Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward, particularly those who may have:

  • Seen any suspicious activity in Pine Island Park or Pine Island Pond during that time.
  • Captured photos or videos in the area between March 25 and March 27.
  • Knowledge of someone who was recently pregnant but does not currently have a newborn.

The New Hampshire State Police have also deployed a K-9 team to assist in searching the area for additional evidence.

Authorities continue to ask the public for assistance as they work to piece together what happened.
