B. Simone’s old friends reacted to her statement that they would not have supported her decision to stop smoking. They posted a rebuttal on X, formerly Twitter, noting that they supported the actress through every decision. B. Simone’s old friends also revealed that she never reciprocated the energy with them. However, they shared that they still love her regardless.

B. Simone’s Old Friends Respond To Her Allegation

B. Simone’s old friends recently set the record straight after her statement went viral. The actress claimed on her Let’s Try This Again podcast, published on April 15, that her former friends weren’t supportive. She said she needed to move on to new people before finding the community she has now. However, B. Simone’s old friends called her out for lying about their attitude toward her.

Brii Renee responded on X, writing, “But this just isn’t true. I still very much love you but you gotta stop with this narrative. None of us would’ve beem mad that you were’nt smoking.” Renee told Simone to stop making her and the other friends out to be “such horrible friends,” even though they “quite literally supported EVERYTHING [she] did. It’s hurtful at this point,” she concluded.

A second friend, Ernestine Johnson Morrison,  agreed with Renee. She wrote, “I pray she finds the peace she’s looking for. I can’t speak for anyone else but as it pertains to us, we supported EVERYTHING she’s ever done even when that support was RARELY reciprocated. May God ease her mind.”

B. Simone Accuses Old Friends Of Not Supporting Her Choices

The claim that B. Simone’s old friends denied was the actress’s allegation that her former friends got mad because she didn’t smoke. She disclosed this while discussing how a period of intentional solitude helped her grow and find her purpose. The stand-up comedian revealed that she changed her circle during this time, which helped her accomplish her goals. However, she noted that it would be a “difficult” experience.

She said, “People are not going to understand when you truly start to choose yourself, and your well-being, and your growth.” B. Simone revealed that she has been sober for two years, with no weed or alcohol, and her old friends wouldn’t have understood that. “The people I’m around now, they support it, they don’t care.”

“My friends still drink. They don’t peer pressure me to drink or do anything else,” she continued before adding, “The people I was with before, oh, they would have been mad I wasn’t getting high. Like literally, like, ‘Why you ain’t smoking with us?'”

B. Simone Claimed ‘Certain Friendships’ Hinder Growth

Still speaking about the dynamics of her relationship with her old and new friends, B. Simone said, “If you’re around people that cannot let you stretch and grow, you’re around the wrong people.” She said it didn’t have to result in a fight when one realizes they are with the wrong people. She disclosed that she walked away from “certain friends” who didn’t understand why she left.

The podcast host noted that this happened despite her having “verbalized and communicated” that the friendship was not good for her. Simone claimed she would always choose her “peace, growth, evolution, future, my vision, and purpose” over walking with friends with whom she is no longer aligned.

If B. Simone’s old friends were honest, it would no doubt hurt to hear what she thinks of them. Hopefully, the comedian will apologize to them and recant her words if they are right.
