A man was apprehended this week for allegedly attempting to kidnap a 2-year-old girl in Queens. 32-year-old Peter Vonderhofen threatened the child’s mother with a knife before fleeing the scene. The New York Post reported that he told the mother
“give me your baby or I’ll stab you!”
Luckily the mother and toddler weren’t harmed and the man was caught by officials 30 min following the incident.
After his arrest, investigators connected Peter Vonderhofen to two armed robberies closeby the same intersection within 24 hours. He allegedly stole a 44-year-old woman’s purse at knifepoint on Oct. 2
The following evening, Peter Vonderhofen allegedly approached a 49-year-old man from behind, grabbed him, and stole his cell phone while showing a knife. Both robberies occurred at the same location.
The man was charged with first-degree robbery for both encounters. He also faces charges of attempted second-degree kidnapping, third-degree weapon possession, endangering a child under 17, and second-degree menacing.
