On Sunday, November 10, a semi-trailer truck entered the US-Mexico borders and the patrol officers decided to inspect it only to discover $31 Million worth of Meth. The port of entry was the Pharr International Bridge, and the driver was coming from Mexico.
The authorities proceeded to observe the package carried by this vehicle. That was when they were thrown into disbelief. After employing the use of X-ray scanners, the officers found about 1,859 meth bundles.
The illicit substance had already been concealed in green colors to replicate the serrano peppers. Per the New York Post, altogether, the shipment weighed 2,155 pounds. The CBP officers maintained that the estimated value of the drugs if sold was around $31,169,000.
Carolos Rodriguez who was in charge of the Port affirmed that the officers were vigilant. He also reassured American citizens that they would ensure the prevention of these hard drugs from entering their cities.
Sources confirmed that The Pharr International Bridge is a major entry port for goods from Mexico. As such, the port officials are always observant. This isn’t the first time such a large consignment of drugs has been seized.
Back in September, more than $17.4 million worth of meth was seized. This time, it was hidden in a trailer carrying coconut. Meanwhile, the investigation into this recent case is still ongoing. Special agents including Homeland Security will be in charge. So far, where the drug was going and who owned it is yet to be mentioned.
