Prosecutors say Simon Vickers, who has since been apprehended for the vicious murder of his only child, Scarlett, is guilty as charged. A medical expert who examined the extent of the deep stab wound on the minor maintained that the knife was held not thrown.
Simon Vickers was immediately taken into custody in June last year, following the untimely demise of his only child, per Dailymail. At the time, he seemed distressed, as he told the authorities that it was a freak accident. The killer-father also revealed that they were involved in a play fight and he mistakenly threw a knife.
Recently, Vickers touted the same excuse to the jury. He even came up with the theory that Scarlett had entered the kitchen after the weapon had hit a hot plate and remained glued to the counter.
However, a pathologist came forward to dismantle the alleged lies. First, the expert expressed concerns over the depth of the injury, claiming that the weapon must have been held at close range.
The prosecutors then added that Simon Vickers was irate after seeing his daughter and wife throw grapes in the kitchen. During the trial, nothing proved that the suspect was a violent man in his family.
However, investigations have shown that Vickers was indeed a troubled young man. At age 19, the suspect was found guilty of wounding with intent and he served two years in detention.
While claiming that the accident was all a mistake, Vickers admitted to being intoxicated with red wine and cannabis joint. The suspect is set to appear in court on February 10 when he will likely receive a life sentence.
