A disturbed commuter assaulted an NYPD officer with a broken wine bottle, leading to chaos as he bit another officer trying to restrain him in a Manhattan subway station. The incident occurred during a transit inspection at the West 4th Street station. The 36-year-old man was drinking on the platform when he was approached by officials, according to the New York Post

While officers attempted to speak with the man, he broke a glass wine bottle and slashed one officer’s left hand with it, per officials.

When officers attempted to apprehend the drunk man, a struggle broke out, with the unnamed suspect biting one officer’s leg. He was later transported to a local hospital and is in custody facing charges. Both officers had minor injuries and are stable.
