Israel Adesanya’s ex, Charlotte Powdrell, reportedly cried after the court ordered her to pay the boxer $500,000. Powdrell had allegedly sued the boxer for half his wealth after they broke up, claiming it was compensation for lost time. However, after discovering Adesanya had no account, the court allegedly asked the real estate agent to pay her ex instead. Neither Adesanya nor Powdrell has addressed the news or ascertained its veracity yet.
Israel Adesanya’s Ex Sues Him For Half His Wealth
News broke out early this week that Israel Adesanya’s ex, Charlotte Powdrell, lost half her wealth after a legal battle. Powdrell had sued the boxer for half his $15 million wealth but allegedly lost $500k instead. The exes were together for a year after confirming their relationship in 2019. They never married and didn’t have children, but Israel Adesanya’s ex claimed he should have married her since they dated too long. She argued that Adesanya was also obligated to support her financially because she supported his career.
Adesanya addressed this on social media in May 2023 and accused Powdrell of being entitled.
“Very relatable….Imagine being so f****n entitled that you think you deserve what a man has worked his whole life for. When you came in to his life with nothing and tried to leave with Million$. But I like Achraf Hakimi, my assets are protected. I woulda taken half her sh** to. But I don’t want half of NOTHING,” he wrote, per Essentially Sports, referencing the famed Hakimi divorce story.
The MMA fighter again attacked Powdrell on Instagram a month later over the same issue. On his Instagram Stories, he claimed she sold information about him and promised to do the same to her. Adesanya added:
“You have never helped me make money, only ever cost me money. Now you think you deserve half my s**t?…me loading up receipts…. Y’all shoulda left me the f–k alone! I got time and I got lawyer money.”
Court Asks Israel Adesanya’s Ex To Split Her Wealth
Before the court’s judgment, the former kickboxer made a statement with his shirt. He wore a black t-shirt to a UFC 290 event in July on which was written, “He’s not your bank.” After a year-long battle, the initial court judgment ruled in Israel Adesanya’s ex’s favor. It asked Powdrell and the boxer to split Adesanya’s $15 million fortune equally.
However, the court discovered that the boxer had never owned an account and was worth $0.00. The judge reportedly asked Powdrell to split her $1 million assets, leaving her and the boxer with $500k each.
Myth Or Fact: Did The Court Rule This Way?
While the news of Israel Adesanya’s ex losing $500k has gained ground, it appears the story is false. Essentially Sports fact-checked the story and confirmed that it is clickbait. According to the news outlet, an X user posted the story, claiming the one-year legal battle was over. It gained traction after an Instagram user reported that Israel Adesanya’s ex cried “her eyes out” after the ruling.
Meanwhile, Essentially Sports acknowledges that the news about Adesanya’s family managing his wealth may be true. The boxer once claimed that his father, an accountant, helped him increase his fortune. He said handing over his wealth to his father benefited him as the latter helped him make wise investments.
Many think this was a lesson for Israel Adesanya’s ex and a victory for the boxer. However, it is still too early to celebrate, especially since the news has not been confirmed yet.
