A Dallas Police Department staffer was let go after being accused of lying about her college degree to get a promotion. Gina Fowler-Strickland, a former police report representative, was let go after a disciplinary hearing, per The New York Post.
The police department stated Strickland was dismissed for engaging in misconduct by being arrested for having a fake degree. She was charged in June 2023 for lying about her education to gain a promotion, per Fox 4.
After missing a court hearing, a warrant for her arrest was issued in September but was later recalled for unclear reasons. The district attorney dismissed the charge in November after Strickland did a pre-trial intervention program.
