Authorities arrested Yella Beezy on Thursday after slamming him with a murder charge. The rapper reportedly ordered the murder of fellow rapper Mo3, who died in 2020. Mo3 died on November 11, 2020, while driving on Interstate 35E near Marsalis Avenue in Dallas. An armed man, who investigators determined Beezy paid, chased and shot him on the highway. Beezy, born Markies Deandre Conway, gained prominence in 2017 with his single That’s On Me, which charted on the Billboard Hot 100.
Yella Beezy Slammed With Murder Charge
Yella Beezy has been charged with capital murder in the death of Melvin Noble, AKA Mo3. The 33-year-old, who had been in a longtime beef with Mo3 before his death, was arrested in Dallas on Thursday, March 20. In the documents Onsite obtained, A Dallas County grand jury indicted Beezy this week, citing his offense as “Capital murder [sic] while remuneration.” The indictment means that Beezy hired a hitman to carry out the murder. Authorities arrested him two days after the grand jury formally indicted him.
Yella Beezy’s murder charge has two possible outcomes. According to Texas law, capital murder with remuneration involves killing another individual in exchange for monetary or other forms of compensation. It carries the death penalty or life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. However, the jury has the discretion to decide the sentence. No bond has been set yet, and Yella Beezy is currently being held in the Dallas County jail for the murder charge.
Yella Beezy’s Hitman Arrested
Investigations also revealed the hitman Beezy hired to kill Noble as Kewon Dontrell White. White attacked Mo3 in the latter’s car and pursued him when he got out of his car. He shot the late rapper multiple times in the back as Mo3 tried to escape. White wore a mask at the time of the incident, but traffic cameras captured him, and the footage was widely circulated. Meanwhile, a jury had earlier charged and indicted White for firearm charges in connection with the murder in 2021.
He was rearrested last month. He has also begun a nine-year sentence for firearm charges related to the shooting. Federal prosecutors also brought charges against another man, Devin Maurice Brown, who they accused of helping to coordinate the murder. Officers arrested Brown in Limestone County, where he was indicted on federal drug and weapons charges following the discovery of a stolen AK-47, drugs, and cash in his home.
Dontrell White’s Arrest
Prosecutors also arrested White, who was found with a 9mm pistol after fleeing from officers. Officers linked both men through phone records and surveillance data, which cited them near Mo3’s murder scene hours before it happened. The duo face years in prison if convicted. Yella Beezy’s motive in hiring both men has not been determined. However, Beezy and Mo3 notably had serious beef with each other, with the duo exchanging diss tracks and threats.
The pair also hurled insults at each other on social media up until Mo3’s death. It is unknown whether Yella Beezy’s participation in this led to his murder charge. Meanwhile, the rapper himself survived a shooting in Lewisville, Texas, in 2019. Although there were speculations that Mo3 carried out the drive-by shooting, those rumors were never proven.
The news of Yella Beezy’s murder charge has been shocking to fans, who hope he is innocent. However, if he is convicted, they can only hope for a life imprisonment sentence for him.
