Four individuals, including the owner and three workers of a New Hampshire daycare, have been charged with endangering the welfare of children after adding melatonin to their food. Each individual is facing

“10 counts of endangering the welfare of a child,”

per the New York Post

Authorities discovered that the daycare was secretly adding melatonin to children’s food without parental consent. Melatonin is a safe sleep aid for short-term use, as stated by the Mayo Clinic.

The spokesperson for the Manchester Police Department, Heather Hamel,

“This is an over-the-counter drug that can be given as a sleep aid, but for it to be given to children without the knowledge or consent of the parents, it’s very concerning.”

After receiving reports of

“unsafe practices”

at a daycare in Nov. 2023, authorities conducted a thorough investigation, resulting in arrests. Fortunately, none of the children needed medical assistance.
