DDG’s plan to prevent Halle Bailey from traveling with their son, Halo, has been grounded. The rapper filed an emergency custody order on Wednesday, weeks after Halle Bailey’s restraining order, seeking full custody of Halo. He alleged that his ex was unfit to care for the baby. DDG also shared instances of various incidents to prove Bailey was not emotionally and psychologically fit. However, the judge denied his request and extended the restraining order granted to the Little Mermaid actress.
DDG Requests Emergency Hearing
DDG filed a response to Halle Bailey’s restraining order on Wednesday, June 4, requesting an emergency hearing. He said he filed the request for an emergency hearing because Bailey is set to leave the country with Halo. The Color Purple actress plans to travel to Italy this weekend for a few months for work. In her original filing, she notified the court that she had arranged for the care of her infant son. She said she plans to travel with her family and a nanny for her son’s care while she is at work.
However, DDG sought to prevent the travel. In his motion, the streamer countered the actress’ accusations of domestic violence and claimed she was the violent one. He argued that Bailey wasn’t mentally well enough and posed an “imminent emotional and psychological risk” to their son and asked for full custody. He also provided instances of situations he thought would add credence to his claims. The streamer said his ex-girlfriend once took his gun and left the house without telling him where she was going while pregnant.
“In or about August 2023, during a particularly volatile argument, petitioner became enraged and threatened to end her life using my legally owned firearm. Without my consent, she took the weapon and left the house,” DDG wrote in the motion attached to his court filing, per Billboard. “This incident was one of several in which petitioner’s actions posed a serious threat to her own safety and the safety of our son by creating an environment of emotional distress and danger within the home.”
DDG Claims Halle Bailey Stalked Him
DDG also alleged that his ex-girlfriend tried to have an abortion without informing him. He claimed she decided not to go through with it. He also referred to other instances where she would send him messages about her mental health. On one occasion, the rapper claimed she threatened to kill herself and suggested that their son might come to harm. Meanwhile, his mother, Tonya Granberry, filed a declaration supporting his claims against Halle Bailey and her restraining order.
DDG’s mother claimed Bailey stalked her son during their time together using AirTags. She said she and her fiancé, George Charleston, discovered several of these tracking devices hidden in DDG’s car and house. In court documents obtained by Onsite!, Tonya wrote that they found the first AirTag in June 2023 in her son’s Maybach. “Darryl called me that night, stating that Petitioner, Halle Bailey, had shown up uninvited to a movie theater in Beverly Hills where he was attending a film with a female friend.”
She stated that she drove to the theater “out of concern” for her son’s safety and claimed to have found Bailey “visibly upset.” DDG’s mom said she “intervened to help de-escalate the situation.” She added that they found a fourth AirTag, a pet-style one, in April 2024 in Halo’s diaper bag. Tonya declared that she and her partner discovered a box of unused Apple AirTags when they moved into DDG’s home in January. She stated that Halle Bailey left them behind after she moved out of the rapper’s home.
Judge Denies DDG’s Restraining Order
The judge denied DDG’s request for an emergency hearing and custody of Halo. The YouTube streamer requested sole custody of the one-year-old or for all custodial exchanges to be facilitated by a third party. His filing comes a few weeks after the judge granted Hailey Bailey’s request for a temporary restraining order on May 13. She accused the social media personality of domestic violence and public harassment.
Meanwhile, Bailey filed a second request hours after DDG submitted his petition for custody and an emergency hearing. In documents obtained by Onsite!, she asked the court to dismiss his petition and grant her permission to travel with Halo. The judge granted Halle Bailey’s request and also extended her restraining order to June 24.
Halle Bailey and DDG’s co-parenting issues seem to be escalating with the requests for restraining orders on both sides. It remains to be seen what the outcome will be.
