Diamonds Are a Crook’s Best Friend: Desperate Thief Swipes $240K Necklace From Atlanta Jewelry Store

Atlanta Police are seeking public assistance to identify a suspect involved in the smash and grab of a $240,000 jewelry item from Luxor Fine Jewelry, located at 4279 Roswell Road NE in #Atlanta #Georgia.

The incident occurred on January 11, when a male suspect entered the store and requested to view a specific piece of jewelry, Atlanta News First reports

According to an employee, the man seized the item, took a five-finger discount and fled the premises on foot. 

Surveillance footage released by the Atlanta Police Department shows the suspect, dressed in a VG tracksuit, conversing with a staff member before examining various jewelry pieces near the store’s exit. The video captures the moment he grabs a display card and swiftly exits the store.  

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the suspect or the incident to contact the Crime Stoppers Atlanta tip line at 404-577-TIPS (8477), submit a tip online at www.StopCrimeAtl.org, or text CSGA and the tip to CRIMES (274637). Informants can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.  

Luxor Fine Jewelry, a family-owned business with over 40 years of experience, has been operating in Atlanta since 1999. The store is renowned for offering and crafting exquisite jewelry designs for its customers.  

The investigation is ongoing, and police are diligently working to apprehend the suspect and recover the stolen item. Community members are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
