Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is fighting the alleged revelations in NBCUniversal’s documentary and has filed a lawsuit against the network. He claimed that NBCUniversal and production company Ample made false claims against him in Diddy: The Making Of A Bad Boy. In the suit, the music mogul’s lawyers claimed that the documentary threatened to expose him to public scorn and reduce his chances of a fair trial.
Diddy Files Lawsuit Against NBCUniversal
Diddy is asking for $100 million in damages in his lawsuit against NBCUniversal and Ample. The music producer, currently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, had his attorneys file a complaint in the same state. According to Diddy’s lawyers, NBCUniversal made several untrue assumptions about him in its documentary, causing him economic and character losses. Page Six obtained copies of Diddy’s lawsuit against NBCUniversal.
In it, his lawyers argue that the documentary claims he “has committed numerous heinous crimes, including serial murder, rape of minors, and sex trafficking of minors, and attempts to crudely psychologize him.” The lawsuit adds that the documentary Diddy: The Making Of A Bad Boy “maliciously and baselessly jumps to the conclusion” that the record producer is a “monster” and “an embodiment of Lucifer” with “a lot of similarities to Jeffrey Epstein.”
NBC Connects Diddy To Kim Porter’s Death
Diddy is also fighting the narrative that he was involved in Kim Porter’s death. Porter and the rapper were in an on-and-off relationship from 1994 to 2007. They shared three children, and Diddy adopted Porter’s first son from her previous relationship with singer Al B. Sure! Diddy’s lawsuit seeks to fight against NBCUniversal’s claims in the documentary that he was responsible for Porter’s death in 2018 from pneumonia.
In the documentary, Al B. Sure! suggested a conspiracy surrounding Porter’s death and questioned if Diddy was complicit. Meanwhile, Diddy’s attorneys claimed that NBC could have omitted Al B. Sure! ‘s comments from the documentary, considering the bad blood between himself and Diddy. Moreover, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office had confirmed that Porter died from natural causes. Hence, they believed NBC didn’t need to include him, especially since they warned the network about false information.
Diddy Says He Has Suffered Mischaracterization
Diddy’s lawsuit against NBCUniversal addresses the damage done to his person from the Diddy: The Making Of A Bad Boy documentary. They noted that the network and its production company chose to move ahead with untrue information in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Diddy’s attorney, Erica Wolff, criticized NBC and Ample for putting profits over ethical journalism and “recklessly broadcasting outrageous lies” for the sake of scandal, such as Diddy’s assault of underage girls.
Wolff stated that the viral defamatory documentary intended to give the network an unfair edge over competitors has caused “severe reputational and economic harm” to Diddy. Additionally, his right to a fair trial was at risk. The lawsuit also challenged the claims that Diddy was a serial killer involved in the deaths of The Notorious B.I.G., record executive Andre Harrell, and rapper Heavy D. It said the claims were an “unhinged conspiracy theory” that was “reckless and defamatory.”
Diddy has been charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution charges. However, he has denied all charges. His trial is set to begin on May 5. In the meantime, what will come of Diddy’s lawsuit against NBCUniversal and Ample remains to be seen.
