Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs may be serving time, but that didn’t stop him from being in the holiday spirit. The hip-hop mogul reportedly spent his Thanksgiving behind bars, spreading the holiday cheer by feeding nearly everyone around him at the low-security federal prison in Fort Dix, New Jersey.
According to TMZ, representatives for the disgraced Bad Boy Records founder teamed up with the group Bankroll Bosses to provide Thanksgiving meals for up to 1,000 inmates. The food was bought from the prison commissary and cooked over two days before being delivered to each housing unit.
“Thanksgiving, to me, is about making sure other people eat,”
Diddy, who has previously taken part in holiday meal-giving efforts, told the outlet through his representatives.
“Everybody misses their family. People get depressed during the holidays. We just wanted to come together as a family and do our own thing.”
Former gang leader B.I. reportedly helped coordinate the effort, which included a turkey roast and trimmings.
“We cooked the food and sent it to all the buildings,”
he told TMZ.
“Enough for about 200 people in each building. It took days to prep everything.”
Diddy added,
“There’s a lot of misinterpretations about prison. There is a strong brotherhood. We all look out for each other. It’s nothing but a positive thing,”
saying it felt
“like a little bit of home in a dark place.”
Diddy is currently serving a 50-month sentence after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
Previously Diddy was held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he reportedly received his own Thanksgiving spread. His meal included dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, turkey roast, vegetables, and mashed potatoes, with dinner options like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chips, and fruit, reports noted.
Recently, Diddy’s son, King Combs, suggested the music mogul could be home sooner than expected.
“We gon play the ‘Diddy Free’ joint whole Christmas, whole Thanksgiving,”
he said, adding,
“He coming home, though. Watch out, he might come home before then.”
