DJ Khaled is turning to his We The Best Foundation to support Jamaica as the country works to recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa. TMZ Hip Hop caught up with him outside Chelsea Television Studios on Thursday, where he shared positive words for survivors and praised the first responders on the ground.

Khaled says he’s also teaming up with the foundations of his longtime collaborators Vybz Kartel and Bounty Killer to make sure aid reaches local communities. He’s also preparing to send a cargo plane with supplies in partnership with DJ Jabba and his manager, Joey Buttafuoco.

Throughout his career, the Diamond-selling producer has worked with several Jamaican artists and delivered multiple reggae and dancehall hits. Hurricane Melissa has left 45 people dead in Jamaica, with 15 still missing, but support continues to grow. Sean Paul has been in the country since the beginning, and he and fellow Grammy winner Shaggy are set to headline a major benefit concert,

“Jamaica Strong,”

on December 12 at UBS Arena in New York. All proceeds will go toward relief efforts.

Hip Hop icon Nicki Minaj is also stepping up through her Barbz Foundation. Her team — working alongside local artist Skeng — was seen in videos handing out essentials like generators, stoves, cooking gas, food packages, and more to hard-hit communities.
