Tashera Simmons, DMX’s ex-wife, has revealed that her late ex didn’t leave a will before his sudden death. Consequently, his family has been fighting over his estate, which only consists of his catalogs. Simmons also revealed that the late rapper’s bad business decisions and reckless spending depleted his estate and left him bankrupt before his death.

DMX Didn’t Leave A Will Before His Death

Tashera Simmons was with Carlos King on the February 4 episode of Reality With The King when she revealed that her family was going through much in-fighting. DMX died in 2021 of a heart attack, but he didn’t have a will, which has caused great trouble for his family. To make matters worse, the late musician “died broke,” according to his ex. He also left millions in debt, including to the IRS.

“A lot of hurt people hurt people, and that’s why I want to say more but there will be a time,” Simmons hinted.

She said she wouldn’t expose certain details now “because DMX didn’t leave a will. Consequently, there was a “bunch of fighting” among his children and baby mamas. DMX and Tashera Simmons were married from 1999 to 2014 and shared four children. However, the Party Up rapper had multiple relationships while married and had 15 children. As a result, much of the fighting in his family “is toward the wrong people,” according to Simmons.

“It’s flowing over to a lot of the bitterness,” she added.

DMX Made Poor Business Decisions

Not leaving a will was not DMX’s only poor financial decision. He didn’t pay child support while alive, although he once made so much money.

“I remember looking at our bank accounts and the zeros wouldn’t stop. I’m not even exaggerating, Simmons said. “He got 10 million a movie; that wasn’t even including all his shows. He made, like, millions just doing a show. And when he went on tour, I mean, he would come back with…I wanna say we were very close to being billionaires.”

DMX also made bad business decisions that affected his fortunes, and Simmons wished he had listened to her advice. She said:

“They asked X about the Barclays Centre, I’ll never forget it. They called him and said Jay is in and they want to know if you want to put in a million dollars to get in. And, you know for the people out there, you know, unfortunately, when we were, I hate to say ignorant but when we were ignorant and we don’t have any real business sense, you know, X didn’t see that as a good investment.”

DMX Went Bankrupt From Spending Recklessly

Tashera Simmons said she recognized many of DMX’s bad financial decisions, including the investment he ignored. She said she told him the investment was a good idea and wanted them to key in, but her ex refused because he thought it would be unprofitable. In addition, Simmons revealed that DMX blew money away recklessly. He spent on people’s funerals and “taking care of everybody and their mama.”

“That was him. He would go to vacation. He would rent the entire hotel out. We would spend over $150,000 sometimes a day. No, I’m not even exaggerating,” the reality TV star revealed.

DMX filed for bankruptcy three times before he died. Once in 2009, then in 2013 and 2016. He passed away in New York.
