In a surprising statement, Jamal Simmons, a former communications director for Vice President Kamala Harris, recently floated a hypothetical scenario that could lead to Harris becoming president.
According to Simmons, one of the most likely paths for Harris to assume the presidency in the 2024 election cycle would be if President Joe Biden were to step down from office, per CNN.
The comments have sparked significant discussion among political analysts and the public alike, with some viewing Simmons’ remarks as an acknowledgment of the complex dynamics surrounding the 2024 election.
“It’s not that we’re hoping for this outcome,” Simmons explained. “But the reality is that one potential path for Harris to lead a presidential ticket would be if President Biden decided to pass the baton.”
Simmons’ comments come after rumors dominated social media that the election was allegedly stolen and handed to Trump with the help of Elon Musk and his Starlink network.
“The vice president has always been prepared to step into any role necessary to lead,” a senior advisor close to Harris shared. “If that role were to be president, she would embrace it, but only under circumstances where it would best serve the American people.”
Still, some insiders suggest that a direct Biden-to-Harris transition could face challenges. “The American people may want to see a more traditional primary process play out,” said political strategist Lila Jefferson, “rather than a simple passing of the torch.”
However, Simmons’ scenario remains just that—a hypothetical. Both President Biden and Vice President Harris have indicated they are focused on their current roles and responsibilities, committed to pursuing a second term.
