Married to Medicine’s Dr. Heavenly is not new to controversy and has invited backlash after her comments on gay men went viral. During her recap and analysis of the latest happenings on the show, Heavenly made a slip-up that got her into trouble with the LGBTQ+ community. Although she apologized for her ignorance, critics won’t relent with some asking for her removal from the show.
Dr. Heavenly On Gay Men
Dr. Heavenly has never shied from sharing her opinions and has done so for many years. However, her latest assertions have landed her in trouble with the LGBTQ+ community. Dr. Heavenly courted backlash after her comments on gay men spread on the internet, and the blowback has been severe. Little did she know that her weekly analysis of Married to Medicine on her YouTube channel would lead to threats of cancellation from fans and critics alike.
During her review of Season 11, Heavenly analyzed Quad Webb’s new beau’s reaction to Dr. Gregory Lunceford’s comments during their Match Game activity. In her after-show review, Dr. Heavenly applauded King for standing up to his girlfriend’s ex for her, but in the process, her remarks offended many. She said:
“If you have a conversation with somebody and it goes to the left, most men – real men, not gay men, not b**** men, the guys that are kinda soft – real men … straight men …are gonna feel like ‘If you tell my wife to shut the f*ck up I’m gonna have a problem with it.'”
Dr. Heavenly’s Comments On Sparks Backlash
Dr. Heavenly’s remarks on gay men not being real men sparked negative reactions, and there have been calls for her to be canceled. One of the show’s fans posted the clip of her comments on X, which led to backlash.
“Gay men are NOT synonymous with soft, bitch or unreal men,” the person wrote. “People are still attempting to define a real man based on his sexual orientation or whether he is feminine or not? I don’t care how many LGBTQ+ friends or fans you have; that implies you should definitely know better.”
The account, which belongs to Jerome Trammel, added:
“My initial response was to call her but it is not always our responsibility to show grace and educate, privately when it comes to public disrespect. Even our faves can make mistakes and need to be corrected.”
A second X user said:
“I will never understand why ppl think being gay is synonymous with scary and bitch related. I know some homosexuals that’ll beat “Daddy” ass into the ICU. #Married2Med.”
Dr. Heavenly Apologizes For Gay Men Comment
Following the backlash against her remarks on gay men not being real men, Dr. Heavenly apologized and accepted responsibility.
“I’m with you. I apologize It was an ignorant statement,” she wrote. “I’m a grown a**woman I can admit when I’m wrong. I didn’t mean it that way.”
However, her apology did not abate the community’s anger, and many continue to demand that she be fired from Married To Medicine and canceled.
Onsite also obtained footage of a member of the LGBTQ+ community demanding more responsibility from heterosexuals. He insisted that Dr. Heavenly was intentionally homophobic and decked her for suggesting that gay men were weak men.
Dr. Heavenly’s remarks on gay men being weak or unwilling to defend their partners have certainly opened room for more discourse on topics like this. Meanwhile, a few people have highlighted that the reality TV star has a gay son herself, while some think those offended are just being sensitive.
