Drea Kelly, R. Kelly’s ex-wife, has addressed claims she witnessed her ex-husband abusing women in their home. The dancer, 50, reacted to these claims during a podcast session. Drea claimed she left the disgraced singer long before the incidents happened and didn’t know where the speculations came from. She also addressed why she left her famous husband.

Drea Kelly Was Not Locked in R. Kelly’s Home

Drea Kelly was with Carlos King on his Reality With The King podcast, published on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. During the session, she discussed several issues that occurred after her marriage with R. Kelly ended. One of the claims Drea Kelly addressed was that she was trapped in the house while R. Kelly’s women flocked to the house.

“Here’s the thing; I didn’t. I don’t even know where people got that from. I don’t even know where that s**t came from,” she responded when King asked her about it.

Drea continued:

“What kind of mama do you think I am? I’m a Black woman from the south side of Chicago. So you think I’m a have a room for you, your daughter, the nanny, and who? Oh, you have lost your damn mind,” she asked incredulously. “Y’all dumb, but y’all ain’t stupid.

Drea Kelly Left R. Kelly Before His Women Abuse Started

Drea also revealed that she was no longer with the record producer when he started abusing women. She told King that her divorce was finalized in 2009.

“My son is 22, Carlos. I left when he was one and a half,” the dancer said, indicating she left long ago.

Drea added that not many people knew she was no longer living with the Storm is Over singer in his Atlanta home at the time. She revealed that she moved in with her parents when the allegations against R. Kelly blew open.

“Been gone! Probably had five or six different addresses trying to get away from his a*s,” Drea explained.

She also told King she had been trying to correct the notion that she was with her ex when everything happened. Drea said she was done with the lies about her.

“Enough is enough,” she said.

The dancer explained that she would have been on trial, too, if she had helped R. Kelly abuse the women.

“The people that were helping him are also on trial with him. Make it make sense,” she demanded passionately.

Drea Kelly Explains Why She Left R. Kelly

The mom of three also disclosed her reason for leaving the notorious musician. She revealed that she could no longer tolerate the abuse and decided to run.

“Having to knock on the door to get permission to go the bathroom. Having to knock on the door to ask, ‘Will you please bring me some food?’ Drea revealed, while close to tears.

She added that she was in survival mode daily and had to care for her kids. Hence, she had no time to help her ex-husband since she couldn’t help herself either.

“And that’s why I said, ‘I’m done. I’m done being humble. I’m being quiet… I’m done,'” she said in tears.

Drea Kelly’s ordeal with R. Kelly underscores the importance of having a support system if one is going through abuse. Thankfully, she got away, but it seems she hasn’t gotten over the experience. Hopefully, she will continue to heal.
