Last week, a video spotlighting El Mencho and his family made the rounds. It showed how the people of Michoacan celebrated the holidays. The locals put up a sign at a Christmas fair with praises for the Jalisco cartel leader.

Over the speaker, a person emphasized how good the drug lord and his sons have been to them. The Message on the sign further showcased their admiration following a rather generous act from the family. It referred to El Mencho’s name. Mr. Nemesis Oseguera and his three sons “2,3 and Delta 1.”

Per CBS News, drug cartels in Mexico are fond of giving locals gifts during the holidays. This is aimed at rebranding their images or garnering support. This action somehow convinces some locals to give off details to the cartels who are in danger of being caught. Such episodes are carried out after an agreement with the cartels and civic or neighborhood groups.

Following the sharing of the clips, Mexican leader President Claudia Sheinbaum calmed the public. He explained that the matter is already being looked into as locals are on the hot seat. The president echoed that such criminal groups cannot boldly defend or promote themselves with such measures.

In the coming days, the people of Mexico will find out if El Mencho involved any significant local authority in the charade. Meanwhile, all hands are on deck to find the drug cartel leader as the US has placed $ 15 million on him.
