Wendy Williams is tired and wants to get out of her conservatorship. The media personality discussed this with hosts of The Breakfast Club on Thursday, January 16. She insisted that she was okay, contrary to reports from her guardian about her health. Williams also details how she lives in the facility she was placed in. However, she could only provide limited information about some issues due to her ongoing legal battles. She also expressed fear of retaliation due to her interview.

Wendy Williams Denies Need For Conservatorship

Wendy Williams claims she is perfectly fine and does not need to be under conservatorship. She echoed Charlagmane Tha God’s sentiments, which he made some weeks ago, about how she was fit to return to work if she wanted to. After Williams greeted everyone with a cheerful “Hi, everybody” and introduced her niece, Alex Finnie, Charlagmane reiterated his words, emphasizing that his long-time friend is “trapped” in a conservatorship and is being taken “advantage” of.

Williams took over and described her daily life in the facility she was placed in.

“I am not cognitively impaired. You know what I’m saying? I feel like I am in prison,” she said, adding, “I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s, their 80s, their 70s and even when people are 60. Me, hey, I’m sexy and gorgeous.”

Wendy Williams has been under conservatorship in a New York facility since 2022. The court appointed Sabrina Morrissey as her guardian after Wells Fargo froze Williams’ accounts.

Williams Feels Isolated

Wendy Williams also shared that her conservatorship has left her feeling “isolated.” Although she was out in December for her son’s college graduation ceremony, those were rare moments as her daily life differs greatly from that. The media personality said she usually watches TV, looks out the window, listens to the radio, and calls people in addition to eating three times daily. She also can’t receive calls, and people can’t return her calls. Williams’ niece, Finnie, described her aunt’s quarters as a “luxury prison.”

Wiliams also disclosed that she paid her conservator for a TV she likes. Moreover, she sold her cats and apartment to move into the facility, and she is alone.

“For the last three years, I’ve spent my birthday by myself,” the talk show host said. “This is what is called emotional abuse.”

Williams and her niece further expressed concerns over the possibility that she won’t be able to travel for her dad’s birthday in Miami. Williams also revealed she’s taken seven pills, not knowing what at least five of them are for.

Williams’ Niece Wants Her Treated With Dignity

Wendy Williams’ niece isn’t fond of her being under conservatorship either, but even more so, she wants her aunt to be well taken care of. She insisted that Williams was being “held and punished” and asked that she be treated “with dignity” and given the “freedoms that she deserves.” Finnie asked people to help by trending the hashtag #FreeWendy and making noise online. She revealed that there was a lot her aunt couldn’t disclose because of a “legal situation” but insisted she wasn’t “incapacitated.”

Both she and Williams expressed fear that Morrissey could cut all contact after their interview.

“My life is like f–ked up … What if they take my phone? I won’t be able to talk to anybody,” Williams said tearfully.

She and Finnie also worried Morrisey might move Wiliams without informing her family. Morrisey has sued A&E Networks for making a documentary about Wendy Williams, which questioned her conservatorship ability. The network also countersued and used the term “elder abuse” per Charlamagne.

Wendy Williams’s desire to be free from her conservatorship is understandable, given how lonely and isolated she feels. Hopefully, things will turn around for her, and she will be able to get the support she needs to live a full life.
