An ex-convict strangled and decapitated a man who had impregnated his wife while he was incarcerated, according to authorities per the NY Post. The victim’s hands were also severed and later found by a five-year-old boy, in a mailbox.

Anthony Newton, 45, is now facing charges for the brutal murder of Ulisys ‘Cesar’ Molina. Molina’s burned and dismembered remains were found in a vacant lot near Las Vegas in 2017, after his family reported him missing, as reported by KLAS. In court last week, a Nevada judge heard that Newton, along with his brother-in-law and another woman, allegedly lured Molina to the woman’s apartment around Christmas 2016 and killed him due to the affair.

One of Molina’s severed hands was discovered in a mailbox by a five-year-old child nearly two years later. The circumstances surrounding how the hand ended up there remain unclear, and it’s unknown whether the family that owned the mailbox had any connection to Molina. His head and the other hand have never been located.

Newton is currently facing the death penalty in a retrial after a judge declared a mistrial in the original case last November when a co-defendant disclosed Newton’s previous prison sentence to the jury. Newton’s wife, Jami Malaperdas, was having an affair with Molina in 2015 while Newton was in prison, although the specific crime that led to Newton’s imprisonment is not clear. According to the defense, Malaperdas became pregnant and later got an abortion.
