A Thailand court confirmed that about 14 cyanide murders were initiated by Sararat Rangsiwuthaporn. This appears to be one of the worst crimes in the country’s history. However, the authorities have judged her according to the laws of the land. Now, the perpetrator has been convicted and condemned to death.

Sararat Rangsiwuthaporn is noted for her gambling habits. These killings were in line with her agenda which is to get more funds. The 36-year-old was accused of luring her victims, and after extorting them, she would kill them.

As reported by CBS, her conviction comes a year after a murder she committed too close to home. Sararat made her friend, Siriporn Kanwong, 32, her last victim. In April 2023, the duo met at the Mae Klong River. They joined in the Buddhist ritual to release the fish. But after the outing, Kanwong collapsed and died. Upon investigation, an autopsy revealed foul play. The deceased was discovered to have ingested cyanide.

Sararat was probably a person of interest as police say they gathered evidence from her. This included fingerprints from her Toyota Forerunner. According to the authorities, they cracked a case as far back as 2015. They confirmed that their suspect had been involved in similar killings. They confirmed Kanwong as Sararat’s 14th victim to have died from cyanide poisoning.

The murders were usually planned and unsuspecting victims would drink poisoned herb capsules. The recent conviction of a death sentence is for Kanwong’s murder. For the family of the deceased, this provided relief. Tongpin Kiatchanasiri, Kanwong’s mom, maintained that justice had been served with the court’s “just” decision. Vitoon Rangsiwuthaporn, formerly married to Sararat, was convicted of complicity.
