A Florida man named Everett Brown in the Frostproof area was being targeted by teenagers in the neighborhood. On one occasion, he encountered a 14-year-old male named Phillip Sutton IV. Per Fox News, the boy allegedly kicked down the victim’s door and beat him up with a colored broom handle.

The 59-year-old who did little to fight back later called the police to report the incident. A few moments later, officers of the Polk County officer arrived on the scene. They quickly began to tour the home, and that was when they found the unexpected

According to the Polk County Department, police found cocaine “in plain view.” This meant that Brown did not bother to hide the illicit content—it was just lying around. This gave the police reason to take the victim into custody.

But this was not after they had the prime suspect. Sheriff Grady Judd explained that the officers were able to arrest Sutton who owned up to his errors. The officer established that burglary and battery charges were criminal offenses. On the other hand, Everett Brown was charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Consequently, the burglary victim spent a few days in custody. Jail records showed that he was booked into jail on November 5. However, after posting a $5,000 bond, the police let him go. While recounting the story to his audience on a morning briefing clip, Sheriff Grady expressed sympathy for the victim. He explained that Brown didn’t deserve to be beaten by the burglar.  However, the detective added that he should have hidden his cocaine.
