Dontay Akeem Prophet worked as a principal at Destiny Leadership Academy in Ocala. He was arrested over the weekend on charges of aggravated child abuse and false imprisonment of a child under 13, reports Click Orlando. Surveillance footage captured Prophet in the video trapping a male child inside a classroom for over 40 minutes, cited the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

The footage shows Prophet forcefully grabbing the student’s arm and proceeding to hold him down, placing him in a chokehold. The 33-year-old principal is also seen striking the boy with a charging cable, causing him to fall over. Additionally, the video captured Prophet twisting the boy’s ankle and slapping him in the face.

During Prophet’s arrest, the authorities presented him with the video evidence, as reported by Click Orlando.

“I don’t know if you know this or not, but there’s a security camera in that room,”

a deputy said in released body-camera footage.

“There is?”

Prophet replied.

Prophet told police he was trying to stop the boy from hurting himself, reports reveal. Investigators say the video does not support his claims. Prophet is in jail without bail, according to Marion County records. Prophet was fired from the Destiny Leadership Academy, WESH reported. The school reportedly held a meeting on Monday to discuss the incident with parents.
