Anthony Mata was just getting acquainted with his new area—as he claimed on Craigslist. However, he wasn’t out to make friends, rather he wanted to know where and how to get hard drugs. But it turns out, that a cop took his order!
Mata now faces two charges after he attempted to purchase crack on the Craigslist website. The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office noted that the suspect wrote “New to the area, looking for ice or crack.” Unbeknownst to the Florida suspect, an undercover cop posed as his dealer.
The officer gave a positive response, and both men fixed a meeting place. Before their meeting, Mata bargained to be supplied with an “eight ball” for $80. Of course, the seller agreed and fixed a meet-up. It was at the point of exchange that the suspect was busted.
Fox News maintained that Anthony Mata was immediately taken into custody and slammed with two charges. This included the purchase of methamphetamine and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
Police also apprehended one Stephen Hornsby, who had facilitated the purchase of the hard drugs. Craigslist is a platform that allows for the purchase and sale of anything. But when it concerns requests such as cracks and cocaine, the authorities are unable to look away.
Back in 2019, an attorney from Downey was convicted for his drug ad. Sources report that Jackie Ferrari used the platform to sell over 1,000 oxycodone. The police launched an investigation on the attorney after the death of a woman in 2018. Although Ferrari wasn’t directly responsible, she allegedly purchased drugs from one of his associates.
