Authorities have arrested 36-year-old Russell Antonio Moore in connection with the brutal death of his mother, Shambray Lavern Levy, 57. 

According to police reports, Moore was allegedly caught on surveillance footage violently attacking Levy with a brick. He later called 911, telling the dispatcher he “put her down.”

Police responding to the scene found Levy unresponsive with severe head injuries. Surveillance footage from a nearby camera reportedly shows Moore hitting her multiple times with a brick, leaving her for dead, Law & Crime reports.

Moore was taken into custody on Monday and charged with premeditated first-degree murder and tampering with evidence related to a capital felony. Authorities believe the attack, which occurred in the driveway of Levy’s home, was premeditated.

“The brutality of this crime is shocking,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to the family of Shambray Lavern Levy as they process this unthinkable loss. Justice will be pursued with the full extent of the law.”
