Florida Man Brutally Assaulted Girlfriend, Says He Finally Felt ‘In Control’ During Attack

OSCEOLA

A man in Florida has been apprehended for reportedly assaulting his girlfriend in a motel room. The 25-year-old unidentified woman, sadly, suffered multiple skull fractures during the attack in Kissimmee and was hospitalized, with medical staff suggesting she may not live. 31-year/old Terell Rodgers faces several charges after reportedly telling officials he thought he had murdered her. He said he believed he “just killed [his] son’s mom,” also referring to her as his wife in an affidavit, according to PEOPLE

The alleged assault began when Rodgers and the victim were in a motel room with two witnesses, one of whom was also pounced on. The couple had used meth earlier that day, per reports. Witness John Zolyniak asked the woman if she wanted food, which angered Rodgers since she wasn’t talking to him due to a previous argument. Rodgers then reportedly began whacking things with a baseball bat, breaking a TV and trying to hit the witness, Zolyniak when he attempted to interfere.

Another Witness Speaks Out

Another observer, Christopher Suraj Budhai, tried to assist when Rodgers attempted to hit the woman with the bat. Budhai was struck by Rodgers and then went to hide in the bathroom with Zolyniak. While hiding, Budhai heard Rodgers strike the woman multiple times. Rodgers later told officials that he was angry over various issues that day and felt a sense of “control” and “pleasure” while striking the mother of his child.

The affidavit states that Rodgers admitted to hitting the woman while she screamed and tried to escape, stopping only when she became still. After he left the room, Zolyniak came out of the bathroom to help Diaz and found a fire on the bed, which he put out. Rodgers faces charges including attempted homicide, arson, and aggravated battery, according to court records.
