Georgeann Park Garner, 48, was fatally shot on Saturday after a vehicle pulled up beside hers at a red light in Panama City, where the driver opened fire. Her 19-year-old daughter, Marileigh Lewis, reportedly sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.

Earlier that day, the mother and daughter had been enjoying a Mardi Gras parade in Panama City Beach. Around 4 p.m., they left the parade to head to a local restaurant. According to NY Post, a minor traffic altercation occurred involving 23-year-old Jubal Simmons and 21-year-old Ivybella Encino.

Authorities stated that the confrontation escalated briefly when someone from Garner’s vehicle allegedly struck Encino. A witness captured chilling footage showing a gray Dodge pickup, allegedly driven by Encino, pulling up alongside Garner’s red GMC Terrain.

Suddenly, a passenger in the truck brandished a firearm, and approximately 11 gunshots were heard as the vehicle sped away. Emergency responders arrived on Highway 231 shortly after 4:15 p.m.

An officer stationed nearby heard the gunfire and observed a gray Dodge Ram fleeing. Police later confirmed that Simmons fired multiple rounds, striking both Garner and Lewis, as well as another uninvolved vehicle.

The suspects’ truck was stopped in a Holiday Inn parking lot, where Encino allegedly rammed police vehicles before being taken into custody. Simmons fled but was apprehended. Garner succumbed to her injuries, while her daughter remains in the ICU.

Simmons faces multiple charges, including Georgeann Park Garner’s murder, while Encino has been charged as an accessory and is held on an $800,500 bond.
