Lakevia Davonna Pringle is facing a charge of principal to first-degree premeditated homicide following the death of Lauren Ashley Martin, according to a press release from the Sanford Police Department.
Pringle is accused of involvement in the fatal shooting of Martin on November 5, allegedly carried out by her girlfriend, Savon Tyler.
On the evening of November 5, 2023, in Sanford, Florida, Pringle, who was filming, and her girlfriend, Savon Tyler, were involved in a dispute with Martin. Pringle encouraged Tyler to escalate the confrontation, saying things like “beat that h*e’s *ss” and “fire her *ss up.”
Tyler then shot Martin, fatally wounding her.
Despite emergency responders’ efforts, Martin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pringle faces charges of being a principal to first-degree premeditated homicide, while Tyler has been arrested for first-degree murder.
“Investigators have gathered substantial evidence that ties Pringle to the premeditated actions that led to this tragic event,” said a Sanford Police spokesperson in the press release.
Authorities allege that Pringle acted as a principal in the crime, a legal term indicating she is believed to have been an active participant in planning or assisting in the homicide, even if she did not directly commit the shooting.
Legal experts say that under Florida law, a person charged as a principal to a crime can be held as accountable as the person who actually carried out the act. If convicted, Pringle could face a lengthy prison sentence, potentially up to life, depending on how the case proceeds.
