Former Jailer In Atlanta Accused of Taking $17,000 in Bribes From High-Profile YSL RICO Case Defendant

(Fulton Cty Jail)

Former Fulton County detention officer in Atlanta, Karmen Bailey, has been accused of accepting $17,000 in bribes from inmates and their families, including a defendant in the high-profile YSL RICO case.

Bailey, 31, allegedly smuggled drugs and other contraband into the jail by collaborating with the family of Marquavious Huey, one of six defendants in the trial involving rapper Young Thug, WSBTV reports.

According to court records, Bailey accepted bribes through Apple Pay, allowing contraband deliveries that investigators believe included drugs and cell phones. The former officer faces four counts of violation of oath of office, and two counts of bribery.

The investigation revealed that Bailey began her role with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) in September 2023 but resigned in August 2024 after two inmates reported her seedy activities.

Surveillance video captured Bailey escorting Huey and another inmate into restricted areas where the contraband was exchanged. One of the recipients of these packages was Marcus Foley, an inmate facing trial for murder and gang activity.

In a statement, Huey’s attorneys responded to the allegations, emphasizing their client’s presumption of innocence, while pointing out concerns about corruption within the Fulton County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet confirmed whether additional family members or associates involved will face charges.
