Former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Apollo Nida’s wife, Sherien Copes, has filed for divorce less than three years into their marriage. She chose to end things one year after they separated. Copes stated there was no hope of reconciliation or repair and asked the court to dissolve their union. In addition to leveling infidelity and abuse charges against her husband, Nida’s estranged wife asked for a restraining order against him.
Apollo Nida’s Wife Files For Divorce
In documents obtained by People, Apollo Nida’s wife, Sherien Copes, asked the court to end their marriage on February 7, 2024. The couple separated in November 2023, about a year after they wedded in October 2022. Copes cited the cause of their divorce as Nida’s infidelity and abuse toward her. She also claimed their union was “irretrievably broken.” Copes said:
“The Respondent and I can no longer live together and there is no hope that we will get back together.”
Her divorce filing comes even as Apollo Nida was arrested last year for domestic violence. He admitted to grabbing her phone and hair and allegedly pushing her against the refrigerator during an argument over mutual infidelity. Copes said in her filing that she experienced “cruel treatment,” “adultery, and “desertion” from Nida. She said:
“The Respondent has had sexual intercourse with someone else during our marriage. The Respondent has intentionally and continually deserted me for at least a year.”

Apollo Nida’s wife revealed she was also seeking a divorce because he refused to get help for his mental health issues. The document read:
“Respondent has committed adultery multiple times throughout our relationship. Respondent refused to seek professional help with his mental health issues and instead he emotionally and physically abused me and brought great emotional abuse to his step daughter.”
Copes requested the court to protect her against her husband’s abuse by granting a restraining order.
“There is a history of physical violence by the Respondent toward me, and I am afraid that the Respondent will engage in further acts of violence or harassment toward me unless the Court enters a temporary and permanent restraining order,” she claimed.
On his part, Nida consented to the restraining order on the condition that it wouldn’t be seen as an admission of past domestic violence, threats, intimidation, or harassment.
Apollo Nida And Sherien Copes Reach A Settlement
Meanwhile, Apollo Nida and his wife, Sherien Copes, have reached a settlement agreement in addition to Cope’s divorce petition. The couple signed the contract in October 2024, dividing their property amicably and waiving their rights to alimony.
Notably, Copes asked that the settlement agreement be incorporated into the court judgment. This is not Apollo Nida’s first rodeo with the law or divorce. He was in prison for car theft for six years before he married his ex-wife, RHOA star Phaedra Parks, in 2009.
Parks and Nida filed to dissolve their marriage in 2015 after he was arrested for conspiracy to commit mail fraud, bank fraud, wire fraud, and identity theft. It was finalized in 2017. While serving his eight-year sentence, Copes and Nida got engaged in 2016. The latter was released in a shortened sentence in 2019, and they tied the knot two years later. Meanwhile, their divorce case has been set for March.
Apollo Nida has denied part of Sherien Copes’ divorce filing. However, he stated that he would reveal the truth soon.
