A Dallas family is distraught after learning their 4-year-old autistic daughter was left to her own devices, sitting alone and soiled on a school bus for seven hours, WLTB reports.
Parents, Robert Pruitt and Keturah Crockett are outraged their nonverbal daughter Araiya was left on the bus and another bus driver noticed her at the end of the day after the girl had been sitting in her own soiled clothes for at least seven hours.
The Pruitt family is calling out the Dallas Independent School District for their failure to protect their precious Araiya. They said the incident could have been tragic.
Araiya never made it to her classroom in the morning and the parents were never notified that she didn’t make it or that she was missing. Apparently, the morning bus driver assumed the bus was clear and exited.
Araiya sat on the bus alone and she could not unbuckle herself. It was also a day where the heat rose to nearly 100 degrees. Later on when she was discovered she was rushed to a local hospital for observation.
The parents are pushing for accountability, and they vow never to allow Araiya to ride the bus again.
The school system is investigating. According to reports, the bus driver was fired.
