Gloria Omisore, a Nigerian traveler, was denied boarding at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on February 3, 2025, due to the absence of a required Schengen visa for her layover in Paris.
In response, she became agitated, shouting at airline staff and, in a moment of frustration, threw used sanitary pads at them, NY Post reports. This incident led to her being denied boarding and deported back to Nigeria, resulting in the loss of her tickets and hotel booking.
Kenya Airways addressed the situation, stating that Omisore was offered an alternative route to London, which she declined. The airline emphasized that passengers are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary documentation for their journey and condemned Omisore’s behavior, highlighting the importance of mutual respect and staff safety.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) coordinated with Kenya Airways to arrange Omisore’s return to Nigeria. A spokesperson for the NCAA confirmed that the passenger was deported on the same day, February 3.
