Convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein is finally being transferred to New York City’s Rikers Island jail complex, following more than one week in a hospital prison unit.

On February 24, a Manhattan jury found Weinstein guilty of rape and criminal sexual acts. However, he was taken to Bellevue hospital due to high blood pressure and heart palpitations.

Weinstein was initially expected to go to an infirmary unit in Rikers pending his March 11 sentencing. He’s health issues continuously played a big part during his case.

“He has significant medical issues. I have letters from all his doctors, Judge. He’s under the care of five doctors currently. He’s dealing with the remnants of his back operation which was not successful.”

Weinstein attorney, Donna Rotunno said before he was taken into custody. Rotunno claims Weinstein needs a walker, takes several medications, and recently received shots in his eyes so he doesn’t go blind.
